Sarah Goodlad shares her journey from Chemwaste to working with the team at Acumen.
What do you do at Acumen?
I am the Site/Sales Administrator which is centrally focused out of the Dewsbury Site.
This includes customer support, sales enquiries/quotations along with operations/transport to facilitate the work being booked in to site. This also involves paperwork generation and distribution, along with the receipt of completed paperwork, checking to see if it is compliant. This involves myself collating and adding the information on to our invoicing system. Also our hazardous waste information on to our CEWB system to enable Acumen to complete the waste returns to the Environment Agency.
Tell us about your journey to Acumen from ChemWaste?
I previously worked for Chemwaste Ltd for a period of 21 years until the Company was acquired by Acumen Waste Services Ltd. I have been welcomed into Acumen and everyone has been very helpful when I was learning the new procedures and systems that are in place. I am now settled and enjoying my role within the company and I look forward to the future with Acumen.
What does a good job look like for you?
A good job for me is for a sales enquiry to give the best service to the customer which would include everyone involved working together from submitting the quotation, arranging the transport, collecting the waste and checking the waste off back at the Dewsbury site ready for invoicing with no complications in any department. It is also good to hear sometimes that the customers contact us to say how happy they have been with the service we provide.
What attracted you into this industry?
Having a wealth of admin experience in the legal field, I decided I would like a change to a different industry and I applied to an advertisement for my current position with a company called Chemwaste Ltd. I was successful at the interview and have found working within the waste industry both enjoyable and interesting and I am glad that I did change industries.
