Acumen is delighted to provide an update on the significant South Bank Wharf Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) Tank Farm decommissioning project for Client, Teesworks. Led by Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen, Teesworks is the UK’s largest and most connected industrial zone, home to diverse, sustainable and low-carbon activity.
As principal contractor on this standalone project Acumen has now successfully completed the removal of remnant product and waste from the 60 million litre tank farm; with associated decontamination and demolition of the redundant infrastructure progressing well towards completion in the next month.
The Acumen team is pleased to report zero incidents or accidents on this project, which have been planned and enacted in full compliance with the changing Covid-19 regulations and guidance.
Working from its North Ormesby depot, Acumen has staffed the project using a local workforce, with the moniker #totallyteesside – ably demonstrating Acumen’s B.E.S.T. commitment to the regions and communities in which it operates.
Acumen will provide further updates on this project and subsequent project awards in due course.
Footnote: ”Acumen’s B.E.S.T. initiative is a hugely important part of the commitment Acumen has to the regions and communities they live and work within. The initiative was inspired and developed by the team at Acumen as part of their longstanding pledge to enhance the lives, economy and environments of staff, customers and local stakeholders. B.E.S.T. is Acumen’s dedication to “Buy, Employ, Support and Transform” and fundamental to these four principles is that this is from and for of the communities Acumen works within.
