Christmas 2020 was a little different for all of us and even more-so for Newcastle University student Lauren Morton who opted to spend some of the festive period delving in to the world of waste management! At Acumen we’re always happy to welcome students onboard so they can obtain some real life working experience and we’ve even seen some of them return as full time members of the team.

Lauren is currently mid-way through her 3rd year of an Environmental Science degree so spending some time with Acumen made perfect sense and it was a pleasure to facilitate the experience.

Speaking of her time with us Lauren said:

“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Acumen, for making my work experience with the company so enjoyable. I spent the majority of my time at Acumen, and I would like to thank Callum, in particular, for being so helpful in showing me the site operations and day to day running of the site. I learnt so much in such a short space of time! Whilst at Keighley and Dewsbury, I saw the range of waste dealt with by Acumen. It really opened my eyes to the time and consideration that goes into managing waste. Thank you for the opportunity.”

It was great to have such an enthusiastic character on site and if Lauren’s picture is anything to go by she was more than happy to pull on the orange overalls and get stuck in to help out.
