Over the course of three days in September, Acumen held a 3-day Compliance Workshop, which was attended by 93% of the company’s staff. Central to the success of this inaugural event was the ambition to create a platform whereby all members of staff could share experiences and open new lines of communication.
As a prelude to the workshop, all employees were sent a questionnaire which gave individuals the opportunity to assess the current culture of the organisation. This was used during the three days to challenge; Management Commitment, Communication, Employee involvement, Training/Information, Motivation, Compliance with procedures; and how we perform as a Learning Organisation.
A positive discussion was encouraged by presenting a miracle question, which steered the responses away from suggesting what we are not currently doing but what we might improve upon. The day also involved a brief on company initiatives, completion of some mandatory health and safety training and discussion on behavioural safety.
Adam Hindson, Director of Compliance said “We see the training and development of colleagues to be an absolute priority. Continued commitment to the teams helps not only engage people but gives them the confidence and enthusiasm for the industry and our customers to offer a service of excellence.
Our continuous drive for excellence is externally recognised, not only through our ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 accreditations, but also through RoSPA, who have awarded a gold award to the business two years running”
