Transforming Egerton Court’s Communal Garden: A Garden Clean-up Success Story

In the heart of Manchester, a vibrant sheltered accommodation scheme called Egerton Court stands tall, offering a nurturing environment for the older community. With its 36 properties and residents ranging from 60 to 99 years old, Egerton Court serves as a haven for those seeking comfort and companionship in their golden years. However, the scheme’s large communal garden was a missed opportunity, overshadowed by clutter and disarray. Our dedicated team at Acumen undertook a remarkable garden clean-up project, turning the neglected space into a welcoming oasis for the residents of Egerton Court.

The challenge

While the residents of Egerton Court took pleasure in gazing at the garden, they were unable to utilise it fully and spend quality time outdoors. The garden’s layout and the presence of unwanted items left by past occupants made it an unwelcoming space. Recognising the residents’ desire to use the garden for communal events and strolls, a transformation was essential.

Acumen steps in

Egerton court called on Acumen. Our experts in waste management and environmental solutions took on the challenge of rejuvenating Egerton Court’s garden. Our team worked tirelessly to remove all unwanted items and restore the area to its former glory. Through our dedication and skill, we transformed the once cluttered garden into a clear and bright space, ready for the residents to enjoy.

A blossoming partnership

Following a thorough clearance of the garden, residents eagerly joined forces with Acumen to plant an array of vibrant and colourful flowers throughout the scheme. The collaborative effort not only beautified the garden but also fostered a sense of community among the residents. With the clean-up complete, the garden emerged as a delightful space for daily gatherings, allowing residents to bask in the fresh air and revel in the garden’s newfound splendour.

Enhancing lives, one step at a time

The impact of the transformed garden on the residents’ everyday lives cannot be overstated. By providing an inviting outdoor space, the garden encourages physical activity and promotes mobility and flexibility among the residents. Engaging in gardening activities helps improve motor skills, endurance, and strength, enabling the residents to lead healthier and more active lifestyles. The garden has become a sanctuary, fostering a sense of well-being and serenity for everyone at Egerton Court.

Michelle, the project manager at Egerton Court, expressed her gratitude to the Acumen team. Without their assistance, the project would not have been possible. The provision of skips and removal of unwanted items played a pivotal role in the garden’s transformation, allowing the residents to relish the summer sunshine and find solace in the rejuvenated garden space.

The garden clean-up project at Egerton Court stands as a testament to the power of community collaboration and the transformative impact of a well-designed outdoor space. As well as our team’s dedication and expertise brought joy and rejuvenation to the lives of Egerton Court’s residents.

Michelle the project manager would like to say a massive Thank you to the Acumen team without our help of a skip and removal of the unwanted items this project wouldn’t of been possible and the residents wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the sunshine in the garden this summer.
