Acumen Waste Services Partner with as Prestigious Car Manufacturer to Remove Hazardous Waste from Multiple Sites
Acumen Waste Services are currently working with a prestigious car manufacturer, to remove hazardous waste at their headquarters in Crewe, UK as well as several other sites. The waste found at the different sites is both packaged, such as drums and IBCs, and in skips with each waste stream recycled or recovered where possible, in line with the waste hierarchy.
In addition to removing the hazardous waste, Acumen help with the organisation of the hazardous waste compound on site, providing technical expertise to ensure the waste is assessed, packaged and stored safely and compliantly. Acumen work with various departments over several sites, taking a holistic approach to a large and complex site and providing a straightforward and effective solution.
Acumen utilize their own fleet of vehicles to collect any waste from the manufacturer and deliver the waste to their own sites, allowing flexibility to work around any scheduling requirements from the customer and not relying on other companies. Acumen’s fleet is fully ADR compliant to carry dangerous goods and with our in-house Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) we can ensure that all transport regulations are adhered to, as well as all waste regulations.
Ongoing Site Visits and Technical Assessments
Acumen perform regular visits to each site to catalogue and assess the waste and prepare the waste to ensure it’s ready for collection. Acumen then arrange the transport, produce all paperwork and labels and accept the waste at our Waste Transfer Station, giving cradle-to-grave support for all hazardous waste that they produce.
The regular site visits, technical expertise and cradle-to-grave ownership of waste form part of the exceptional customer service that Acumen provide. When working at site, Acumen fit seamlessly into the Environmental Operations team, working alongside the car manufacturers employees.
Going Above and Beyond the Service
Acumen have assisted with historical issues they have had on site as legacy wastes throughout the sites have been removed through an amnesty in laboratories for old chemicals that are now out of spec. They have also improved the process for battery disposal, ensuring batteries are segregated by type and size which has a dual advantage. Through doing this it will reduce the likelihood of an environmental incident and allows for a cost saving when disposing of the batteries.
Monthly Waste and Environmental Reporting
In addition to the waste management and technical expertise, Acumen supply monthly reports detailing the waste we have removed from site and all waste compliance information. They also produce monthly greenhouse gas emission data relating to the transportation aspect of removing waste from site.
