Acumen Undertake Important Social Value Project with Your Housing Group

Acumen’s commitment to delivering social value where and when possible has always been a central pillar of what we stand for.

Not only do we want to have a positive impact on the lives of the people we work for we also want to ensure that we make a real difference to those we can help directly and indirectly. This dedication to delivering more was perfectly represented in a recent project that we were fortunate enough to work on alongside our long-standing customer, Your Housing Group, one of the UK’s largest housing providers, offering more that 28,000 homes, ranging from affordable social housing through to private rent.

The Project

As part of a number of planned events throughout the year this particular event took place across the Partington estate with involvement from the various teams at YHG, One Trafford, Hope Green and Acumen. As part of the initiative, four skips were placed across the estate to collect customer’s unwanted items, all of which were filled within an hour of delivery. This allowed customers gardens and houses to the cleared and also helped to massively reduce the risk of fly-tipping.

As well as the skips, litter picking groups were also out and about collecting a large number of rubbish bags from the streets and green spaces.

The Purpose

As well as our ongoing endeavours to support local communities in whatever way we can, these events are planned to ensure that customers who cannot remove unwanted items themselves have a much needed alternative. With the risk of fly-tipping or using an unlicensed waste carrier being high these events give communities a chance to remove their clutter in a safe and suitable way.

The Results

Guided by Acumen and as part of our commitment to delivering social value, this project has had a hugely positive impact on the local community and our customer’s residents.

Disposing of waste in a safe and compliant manner is not easy and can cause the general public a whole host of problems both directly and indirectly. However, using the expertise and resources available at Acumen we are able to collect and dispose of a wide variety of waste products in a quick, clean and compliant manner.
