Acumen Clears Damaged and Rejected Aerosols for Durham-based Aerosol Manufacturer

A Durham-based aerosol product manufacturer called on Acumen to clear a backlog of previously decanted foam/gel from their shaving product manufacturing and have consequently contracted us to manage the waste produced from rejected or redundant aerosol waste on a weekly basis.

Prior to our team being involved, the practise employed by the client was to dispose of rejected and redundant cans into IBCs. However due to the size of the operation, these are limited by capacity. They have hundreds of IBCs to be collected all over the site weekly which made the operation of removing them time consuming and expensive.

Our team of experts proposed the supply of eight 240 litre Acu-bins to be strategically placed around the factory production floor to dispose of reject aerosol waste without the risks associated with double handing. These include further damaging pressurised containers and causing injury to your staff.

Aerosols aren’t environmentally the friendliest of products but is it incredibly important to our client to handle waste responsibly and to lower their environmental impact in whatever way is possible. They ensure that they adhere to environmental policies as well as employing internal systems to reduce their carbon footprint, energy usage and resource intensity. Therefore, we ensured that the waste is always treated by a process called Anaerobic Digestion. This allows microorganisms to break down into biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen.

Due to the great work our team have been doing to safety remove this waste in an efficient way, our client has asked us to continue this work weekly for the foreseeable future on a contractual basis.
